Vickers Marine Lubricants provide continuing lubrication and protection against corrosion even where water is present. Their ability to perform in the frequently hostile conditions presented by the marine and offshore environments is recognised worldwide. The original application for the HYDROX and NEOX ranges of emulsifiable lubricants is in the lubrication of sterntube shafts and bearings, although grades are now available for rotatable and tunnel thrusters, CP propeller hydraulics and ship's stabiliser systems. All grades within these ranges have in common the ability to absorb water which may infiltrate the lubrication system to form a water in oil emulsion. The characteristics of these emulsions are such that a high standard of lubrication is maintained and protection against corrosion afforded even where relatively large quantities of water are present. Continuous research and development have recently enabled Vickers to develop and launch a new range of biodegradable oils to help protect the environment as well as the sterntube. Successes such as winning the 'Seatrade' award for Hydrox Bio 68, the flagship of their range of biodegradable lubricants reflects the quest for quality and innovation that have been hallmarks for the company throughout its 175 year history. |
